The original do-it-all action sandal?
Think of the best outdoor designs, and chances are they were devised with a very specific purpose in mind. In the case of Teva’s cult-classic Original Universal sandal, that purpose was kayaking—when a Grand Canyon river guide rigged some velcro watch straps to his flip-flops to create a pair of sandals that would stay fixed to his feet, even in the wildest of rapids. A few design tweaks later, and the Teva Universal was born. Over 40 years later the design has barely changed, which just goes to show just how right they got the recipe all those years ago.
