Yamatomichi Comes to the UK

Outsiders Store hosted the Japanese ultralight brand for a UK tour.

Outsiders Store were the first retailer to bring Yamatomichi to the UK, which is worth knowing. The Japanese brand has built a devoted following among through-hikers for its ultralight approach to gear: minimal weight, considered construction, nothing surplus to requirements. The kind of kit that gets passed around trail communities with the same reverence as a dog-eared copy of a Chouinard catalogue.

With the brand now on British shelves, the Yamatomichi team made the trip over for a UK tour. Outsiders Store hosted them properly. In-store kit demos gave people a chance to handle the gear up close and get into the details with the people who make it. Then things moved to the Peak District for a speed packing competition, which is exactly the kind of event that makes sense for a brand whose whole ethos is about moving light and moving well.
