Stanley Built for Life: Fell Foodie

The next in Stanley’s short film series focuses on a Lakes legend

Fell Foodie Film

When you’re heading for a stroll in the fells, it’s fairly standard practice to keep it basic when it comes to packing a lunch. A cheese sandwich and a couple of energy bars is usually about as good as it gets — maybe a flask of soup if you were particularly well organised.

For Harrison Ward – aka Fell Foodie – cling filmed sarnies and Heinz’s finest didn’t quite cut it. On his ventures out into the Lakes, he started taking progressively more extravagant food along with him and one day someone suggested he prepare the meal out on the hills too.

Before long, he was cracking out the camping stove and rustling up restaurant-standard meals for his friends all over the British countryside. As he shared the results on his Instagram, he grew an audience and a platform to talk about his struggles with mental health and the benefits he’d found in the outdoors. He even ended up making a cake with Mary Berry on somewhere a fellside for the BBC.

As part of an ongoing video series we’re helping produce for Stanley Europe, we sent Sam Walker up to Cumbria to catch up with Harrison and find out more about his passion for seriously good grub, his favourite equipment, and why fresh air is his secret ingredient.

Watch the full film below and see the rest of the series here.
