Done in an R1: Month in Review, Feb 2019
From Patagonia’s catchy R1 jingle to making stuff out of wood, these are our highlights from February 2019
Think of a jingle from an advert that’s got stuck in your head before… do any of these come to mind?
‘Washing machines live longer with Calgon’
‘I feel like chicken tonight’
‘Beanz meanz Heinz’
‘If you like a lot of chocolate on your biscuit, join our club!’
‘Done in an R1’
Don’t recognise that last one? Well, get ready to add another to your repertoire because we’ve been singing it ever since we worked with Patagonia on the re-launch of the R1 Fleece.
DO/ OPEN/ by Hiut Denim Co-Founder David Hieatt
We’ve admired Welsh denim brand Hiut Denim for a while now. But admittedly, we have only recently subscribed to their newsletter and bought the DO/ OPEN/ book written by Hiut Denim Co-Founder David Hieatt.
After reading the book cover to cover and realising that half the stuff in there is what we’ve also been preaching for years, we decided that it was about time we take our own email newsletter a little more seriously. If you’ve not read it already, add this one to your list of books to read in 2019.
There is something uniquely fulfilling about working with your hands. Unless, of course, you’re tackling a piece of Ikea flat-pack furniture. There’s nothing fulfilling about that.
Well, throw away those overly simplistic instructions because you’re in for a treat. Grab a plate of meatballs, sit back and relax whilst watching Frank fashion up some drawers from a piece of wood. All the satisfaction, none of the struggle.
